Pawprints on the Heartland

Goal: $50,000.00

Specific Need

Pawprints on the Heartland has recently purchased a new building that will allow us to continue to provide low-cost spay and neuter services to residents of Southeast Kansas, allowing them to keep their pets without the fear of unwanted litters of kittens or puppies.  Additionally, it will allow us the space to operate a much needed feline rescue and shelter, enabling us to make sure that unwanted cats and kittens receive quality veterinary care and a safe place to stay while we help them find their forever homes.

This new facility is a huge blessing, but also a large undertaking, as there are many repairs and modifications that need to be made to make it function well for these uses.  Your donation will help us make this facility a reality in addition to helping us continue to care for animals across our area.

Mission

The mission of Pawprints on the Heartland is to maintain a program that combats the problem of pet overpopulation in Southeast Kansas by providing the spay/neuter surgery at a reduced cost, therefore making it affordable and convenient for residents throughout the SEK area, as well as mitigate the growth of the feral/stray cat population through consistent, comprehensive TNR (trap, neuter, release) activities.

The ultimate goal of Pawprints is to operate a no-kill animal shelter, prevent unwanted litters, and provide loving homes for as many animals as possible.

Profile

Did you know that over the course of it's lifetime, one cat can be responsible for the birth of 400,000 additional cats? Pet overpopulation is an enormous problem across America and in Southeast Kansas.  A dual approach of spaying and neutering pets and trapping and altering stray and feral cats is the safest, and simplest way of preventing animals from  reproducing. Pawprints on the Heartland makes that both affordable, accessible for families and their pets and effective in the stray/feral community.  Through our local low-cost clinic and our mobile unit, Pawprints has spayed and neutered hundreds of thousands of animals in Southeast Kansas, preventing the births of millions of unwanted animals.

With our expansion to a full-fledged feline shelter and rescue this year, we have also been able to improve the lives of hundreds of unwanted cats and kittens by providing quality veterinary care and safe shelter while we actively help them find their forever homes.
