Specific Need
We have the power to transform lives. Sport is a powerful force. It can shift the focus from disability to ability, from isolation to involvement, from exclusion to inclusion. It teaches teamwork, instills compassion, and builds leaders. However, our impact goes beyond sports. Families find support. Lifelong friendships are formed. Social skills are developed. Independence is achieved. Confidence is matched. Lives are changed. We are partifipating to keep our athletes successful on and off the field!
Mission
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.Profile
Special Olympics Kansas provides sports training, competitions, and health, wellness, and leadership programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities. In 2025, around 2,000 athletes participated in ten regional competitions and two state competitions in Southeast Kansas. We want to continue our work with athletes in this region and hopefully expand our events and impact. Funds will provide needed equipment, medals, meals, shirts, and other supplies for competitions and programs. We believe everyone — athletes, coaches, volunteers, staff, Unified partners, Clinical Directors, sponsors, donors, and partners — are our teammates. Together, we are One Team.
