Northeast USD 246 Foundation exists under the umbrella of USD 246.
We continue to recognize Frank Blazic who set up his endowed scholarship fund several years ago. This year we are able to provide the district with $3,300 bringing a total of $47,150 since our first distribution in 2014.
Through memorial contributions to our Non-Endowed fund, in honor of family's loved ones, the Foundation was able to provide the district with an additional $4,000 for dual credit scholarships for NEHS students for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Sollner Family Scholarship Fund awarded $3,500 to two applicants. The nice thing about the Sollner scholarship is that it allows for graduates to obtain multiple scholarships throughout their college career, not just at high school graduation.
In August of this year, the Foundation awarded a $100,000 grant to the USD 246 making many district improvements possible. Improvements from their reimbursement requests included:
- Softball Field Improvements - $36,323 – Concrete work, LED lighting, new scoreboard, upgrades to softball/tennis courts, and new sound system.
- Sound System for Elementary Gym - $8,995 – Upgrade has allowed for productive assemblies and speakers for students.
- Audio and Video Systems at the High Scholl - $27,175 – Total replacement of audio/video system. Ensures events held at the high school runs smoothly.
- Eco Turf Playground Surfacing – $54,781 - Playground was surfaced with Eco Turf that allows a soft surface for the play area at the Elementary. Students enjoy recess time and helps prevent injury from students falling off playground equipment. About 24 years ago, when the Foundation was established our first project funded was a similar project.
Total costs to the district for all improvements was $127,274, so again, thank you to Craw-Kan which made funding these projects possible and only costing the district $27,274. Recognition plaques have been installed or the Craw-Kan name placed on items such as the scoreboard.
Northeast USD 246 Foundation greatly appreciates continued support as we enhance the education of our district’s youth. None of this is possible without your help. On behalf the of district and our students, thank you!
